This is our second year at McNear and we love it! The Kindergarten program was amazing! We are most impressed by the strong community at McNear and the cultural and socioeconomic diversity. When touring the school, you will see parent volunteers in every classroom. There is an amazing garden, P.E. 2-3 times a week, credentialed music teachers teaching music once a week, Art Docents, a strong PTA, and more! The Principal is thoughtful and responsive and the community-building activities are excellent.

Our family loves McNear. The Kindergarten year was an amazing and beautiful introduction to school and learning. The teachers and principal are receptive and helpful toward enriching every child's education. This school has much to offer!

This is our first year at McNear- we love the sense of community and dont miss the hard-core pressure we felt at our prior school at all. The teachers are very kind and the parents are involved!

The primary education here is amazing! However, the upper grades are severely lacking in challenging, engaging, and appropriate education and curriculum.

My children (kindergarten and 2nd grade)have had a wonderful experience at this school, both emotionally and educationally. McNear is diverse both culturally and socio-economically. McNear has a thriving parent-run performing arts program and we are the only elementary school in the city that employs a full-time student advisor. Many parents are very involved with the school, both volunteering in classrooms and behind the scenes.

My child has only been there five weeks, but we are quite underwhelmed. There seem to be attempts to be innovative but a lack of the critical aspect of knowing how to engage students. Too often they are looking for the 'right behavior' or the 'right answer'.

This is not just a school, it is really a community. I am very happy with the education my child has recieved here and feel that parents play a valuable role in that education.

What a great school. I especially recommend the Reggio-Emilia inspired Kindergarten.
